 October 15th, 2007 - To launch its 40TH Anniversary Year, Primavera Gallery is staging an important show of ART DECO GLASS by two of France's acknowledged masters, Andre Thuret and Daum Nancy, at its new Chelsea location from October 15 - November 30.Two great French artists emerged in the Art Deco period whose talents to manipulate and decorate glass in entirely modern ways virtually changed the way collectors of the time viewed art glass.
Thuret was a highly trained studio glass artist, and Paul Daum was the grandson of Jean-Louis Daum, who, with his brother Louis-Auguste, founded the important, artistically creative firm of Daum Freres in Nancy. The heavy, etched glass vases they produced evoked wonderful organic, flowing, sensual forms. They were enhanced by metallic oxides, controlled swirls and bubbles and dramatic geometric designs.
