World Police & Fire GamesWednesday, February 27 2008 - The World Police & Fire Games are the 2nd largest Olympic-style event in the world; taking place every two years, and showcasing the athletic prowess of 18,000 police officers and firefighters from over 70 countries worldwide.

 

Over 65 traditional Olympic sporting events in both women’s and men’s divisions will be featured at 40 venues throughout New York City. In 2011, the Games will respectfully coincide with the 10 year memorial of September 11th, and will integrate the two themes of Remembrance for those lost in the tragedy and Gratitude for those who offered support.

The program is set to include both silent and live auctions with proceeds to benefit the funding of the 2011 Games. John Flaherty, YES Network announcer and former New York Yankees catcher, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Gala.

Honorees: Hon. Martin Golden, George Martin (accepted by Harry Carson,) Brian Leetch, Ken Podziba, Brandon Steiner, and Joe Wenke.
When: Cocktail Reception at 6:00 PM with Dinner & Program to follow at 7:00 PM.
Where: The New York Marriott Marquis Times Square, 1535 Broadway between 45th and 46th Streets.

Cost: $500 general seating, with preferred seating for $750. Gold, silver, and bronze medal sponsorship packages also available.
