The Tuscan Nose: Il Naso Toscano: Chianti Classico's New York Wine Tasting Print
Monday, April 21 2008, 14:00 - 20:00 by  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Hits : 547

ChiantiMonday, April 21 2008 - The Chianti Classico Wine Consortium is presenting an evocative tasting of a wide range of wines produced in the Chianti region, a well-known Italian wine territory located between Sienna and Florence in Tuscany. True Chianti Classico is identified by the Black Rooster on the neck of the bottle, an ancient symbol of the wine and its territory, and a guarantee of the wine’s outstanding quality.

This tasting will begin with a sensory experience of Tuscany: “The Essence of Chianti Classico,” 27 different aromas captured by the award-winning Italian perfumer, Lorenzo Villoresi. This will prime the senses for the walk-around tasting of the wines themselves, numbering over 200. The first session is for the trade and the second is for consumers, with an educational tasting seminar for each session. To complement the wines, authentic Tuscan dishes will be served.

WHO:
50 leading producers and other winery principals, who create premium wines at a range of price points, will be pouring and interacting with participants.

Marco Pallanti, President of the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium, and himself a leading winemaker of the region with the prestigious Castello di Ama brand, will be present. Marco will be available for interviews, with a translator.

David Lynch, formerly the Wine Director at Mario Batali’s 3-star NYC restaurant, Babbo, Mr. Lynch is a James Beard-award-winning author and educator. He coauthored “Vino Italiano: The Regional Wines of Italy” with Mario’s partner, Joseph Bastianich. David will be available for interviews.

The consumers’ $40 entrance fee will be donated in its entirety to Slow Food USA, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to taste education, sustainability and biodiversity.
